About Markets for Good
Markets for Good is an initiative of the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society to improve the data infrastructure for social good. With the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the progressive financial firm Liquidnet, we share ideas and foster innovation to advance the safe, ethical, and effective use of digital data for a higher impact social sector.
We envision a data-driven social sector, where interventions are more effective and forward-thinking, where capital and data flow efficiently and with transparency, and where there is a dynamic culture of continuous learning and development.
We advance this vision by:
- fostering a robust online community dedicated to the exchange of practical data-related knowledge and expertise;
- hosting in-person events that support knowledge sharing, ideation, research, and cross-sector collaboration; and
- cultivating innovation and original research through grants and mentorship to select practitioners and partners in the field.

We invite leaders and practitioners in the social sector to join us in our efforts to foster evidence-based innovation for social good. In addition to the opportunity to contribute to our online community and in-person events, our new grant-making program will provide exciting opportunities for collaboration and innovation. We look forward to sharing more information about this program in the near future.
